Rasmus Højlund has revealed an interesting line-up decision Ruben Amorim is making at Manchester United following the victory against Viktoria Plzen.

Ruben Amorim made five changes to his Manchester United line-up to face Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League on Thursday night.

The rotation was no surprise, with the new head coach making regular changes to his team in every game so far.

United made difficult work of the game but eventually won 2-1 following Rasmus Højlund’s second-half brace.

Amorim started the game with Joshua Zirkzee being supported by Marcus Rashford and Amad Diallo in the frontline.

Rashford and Zirkzee started together for the second time after excelling against Everton. The idea that the Englishman can run beyond Zirkzee as he looks to link play makes sense.

It certainly did not work on the night, however, with both players disappointing and being substituted early in the second half.

Højlund would then work well off Bruno Fernandes and Amad to score his two goals on the night. The striker believes that Amorim’s decision making for the XIs is platforming the team.

Asked about the growing chemistry between certain players within the squad, Højlund explained that Amorim is making sure to use players who compliment each other in his line-ups.

“I think it’s about getting those connections with each other, especially when you play this system.

“People close to each other, flicks right, left and centre. It’s very important to understand each others movement.

“Yeah, the manager is also trying to sort of play with players who compliment each other very well…”

Of course, this makes complete sense and probably should be a given for a United head coach. But we have regularly seen players look uncomfortable in their roles or not suited to certain situations.

Amorim looks like he’s trying his best to help his players by setting them up in zones that they will thrive in.
