Rasmus Højlund responds to Matthijs de Ligt to Man United after latest transfer update
Rasmus Højlund has responded to questions surrounding Manchester United’s pursuit of Dutch defender Matthijs de Ligt.
It has now been reported that United have opened contact with Bayern Munich over a potential deal for the 24-year-old.
Mike Verweij has detailed that a five-year contract offer has been sent to the defender, and it is expected that an agreement will be reached.
It was also added that Erik ten Hag has spoken with him on the phone several times. The pair worked together at Ajax.
While United look to get their transfer business done, many players have been competing at Euro 2024.
Rasmus Højlund has been one of those, but he will be heading back home after Denmark’s round-of-16 exit.
The United striker remained tight-lipped when asked by Sky Germany about the prospect of De Ligt making the move to Old Trafford this summer following their final game at the competition.
“That is nothing to do with me, so I can’t answer that question, but he is a good defender,” Højlund responded.
Højlund could also be expecting another striker to join him at Old Trafford in the coming weeks, with Joshua Zirkzee heavily linked.
Ruud van Nistelrooy is also set to rejoin the club as Ten Hag’s new assistant manager, and Højlund will undoubtedly want to tap into the expertise of the club legend.
