Rasmus Højlund has given Manchester United fans a two-word injury update as Erik ten Hag makes an admission about the club’s pre-season loss to Arsenal.

Manchester United‘s third pre-season fixture of 2024 provided mixed results as United fell to a 2-1 loss against Arsenal at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.

Rasmus Højlund opened the scoring with a powerful run and finish inside 20 minutes, with Erik ten Hag‘s men looking sharp and proactive on the ball. Mason Mount was a standout player.

However, things quickly unrivalled with both Rasmus Højlund and Leny Yoro having to come off in the first half due to injuries, and the final score ended 2-1 for the North London club.

It was Højlund’s first minutes back at the club since his 2024 European Championships exploits, and following the game, Ten Hag admitted that the club would have to wait at least 24 hours to know what damage the injuries had really caused.

He also explained that United must be very “careful” with Leny Yoro, as he has only completed half of the training sessions.

“Of course, it is too short [to know about their injuries], and we have to wait over 24 hours, then we will hopefully know more.

“We were careful, especially with Leny [Yoro], as he only did 50 per cent of the [training] sessions. He has to come up, but let’s be positive and see what happens.”

Following Ten Hag’s admission about the injuries, Højlund himself provided fans with a two-word injury update. While walking through the mixed zone after the game, reporters asked him for an injury update, to which he shrugged and replied, ” We’ll see.”

While the update itself isn’t too significant, it shows that Højlund was likely taken off as a precaution. Højlund suffered some injury troubles last season and missed 11 games for United.

With new signing Joshua Zirkzee currently on holiday, Højlund would be United’s only fit striker going into the Community Shield against Manchester City on 10 August. Let’s hope the injury is not too serious.
