Raheem Sterling transfer update as Man United defender praises “very special” star
Chelsea forward Raheem Sterling has been linked with a move to Manchester United in recent days ahead of transfer deadline day.
Jadon Sancho was absent from United’s first two Premier League games of the 2024/25 season against Fulham and Brighton, and it seems the club are looking to sell him despite resolving his issues with Erik ten Hag.
Several reports suggest that Sancho could be on his way to Chelsea, his boyhood club, with out-of-favour winger Raheem Sterling potentially moving in the opposite direction.
Juventus seemed like the likelier destination for Sancho, but there have been problems for a potential deal with the Italians.
While there are contrasting opinions about the ability of Sterling, a fresh update on his situation has been reported by TalkSPORT reporter Alex Crook.
He posted on X: “As it stands, Raheem Sterling more likely to stay at #CFC than leave on #DeadlineDay”
This would likely be down to the player’s wages, which are over £300,000 per week. Sterling was told that he was no longer wanted at Stamford Bridge.
Meanwhile, new United defender Noussair Mazraoui has been offering praise to one of his United teammates in an interview this week.
Speaking to Voetbal International, the Moroccan defender explained his close relationship with Matthijs de Ligt, who also made the move from Bayern Munich this summer.
“Luckily, the first impression was good, and that’s how it felt to me, too,” he began.
“That’s a relief. Everything is new, and it can easily go wrong. What I really liked is that they can also really appreciate a defensive action, such as a good tackle or a good interception here.
“Together at Ajax, together at Bayern, together at Manchester United. I don’t think many players can say that, no. Yes, that is very special. He has also become a very special boy for me.”
