“I understand…” – Pundit gives update on Erik ten Hag following Manchester United sacking
One Dutch update has provided an update on Erik ten Hag following his Manchester United sacking earlier this week.
Erik ten Hag was told the news of his sacking by Manchester United chiefs Omar Berrada and Dan Ashworth on Monday morning.
The manager, who had just lost against West Ham in the Premier League, was pictured jetting back to the Netherlands later that day.
He is reportedly set for a monumental payout following his dismissal while United have agreed to bring his replacement, Ruben Amorim, in after the international break.
Pundit gives Ten Hag update
Hans Kraay Jr, ESPN pundit and Ten Hag’s former teammate at De Graafschap have maintained a good relationship over the years.
Now, following the Old Trafford dismissal of the 54-year-old Dutchman, Kraay Jr has shut down any rumours that Ten Hag will be happy to receive a healthy payout in his contract.
Instead, the Dutch pundit has claimed that the former United boss is ‘completely devastated’ that his time at United has come to an end.
“I understand that he is getting seventeen million euros and then people say: ‘he will go somersaulting through Manchester’. No: he is completely, completely devastated, he is completely ruined,” Kraay Jr said, as per Soccer News.
“At the moment you don’t think about money. That will come later. I also don’t have the impression that I have to call him tomorrow to ask: ‘can you still make ends meet, can you still get the groceries?’ Not that, but now he’s in trouble.”
No one else to blame
While the United boss certainly had some difficulties which were out of his control during his time in Manchester, he was given enough time in the end and didn’t show enough to suggest things would drastically improve.
Perhaps the team could have won another cup competition, but the Premier League performance was simply not good enough.
Then, the 54-year-old didn’t help himself with how he conducted his interview and press conference duties. That was one of many issues.
Yet, it wouldn’t be so surprising to see Ten Hag shine elsewhere as manager, just as he did at Ajax, but he might decide to have some time out of the game following being in the blazing United spotlight.
