Premier League legend says Jadon Sancho should sign for Man United’s rivals
Emmanuel Petit, a member of Arsenal’s famous ‘invincibles’ team, has urged his former side to sign Manchester United forward Jadon Sancho.
Sancho, 24, has spent the last few months on loan at Borussia Dortmund, excelling as the German giants reached their first Champions League final in over a decade.
With his United career reportedly at an end, Sancho is not likely to return to the Red Devils’ squad after the end of this season.
Instead, with his relationship with United boss Erik ten Hag severely damaged, Sancho is widely expected to move away from the side come this summer’s transfer window.
With Dortmund believed to be limited by financial restrictions, they are unlikely to offer the reported £45 million transfer fee United are looking for, leaving Sancho’s next club as up in the air.
As a result of this, former Arsenal star Petit believes the Gunners should attempt to bring the London-born winger back to the capital.
Discussing the talented Englishman ahead of his expected summer exit from Old Trafford, Petit told Grosvenor Sport the following:
“I was saying how impressed I was with Jadon Sancho in the Champions League on commentary. He looks like a new player, so fit, thin and explosive.
“He’s like dynamite on the pitch, so explosive on the ball with [Karim] Adeyemi on the left flank, so hard to catch. He’s back to his best and Man United look so far away from them, so if Arsenal want him, [then] why not?
“You can put the best player in the world at Man United at the moment and they’d look average in two months.
Further emphasising why he believes Sancho needs to move away from United, Petit criticised just how far the Red Devils have fallen.
“This is easily the worst Man United side I’ve ever seen,” Petit stated. So many average players and Casemiro looks so poor. I don’t recognise the master midfielder he used to be.
“It must be so hard to be a Man United fan when you see the history of the club. They must be thinking: ‘What is going on?’ You can see their body language with each other and just not good enough.”
This marks the second time Petit has urged his former club to sign a Manchester United attacker in the last few months.
Back in February, Petit told Betway that United’s #10 Marcus Rashford would “be an excellent option for Arsenal.”
