The Premier League have confirmed the match referee as Manchester United travel to face Arsenal at Old Trafford on Wednesday evening.

Rúben Amorim’s Manchester United are preparing for a crucial test against Arsenal following their dominant 4-0 victory over Everton at the weekend.

Amorim has made an encouraging start at Old Trafford, delivering two wins and a draw in his first three matches. His leadership has reignited hope after the club’s dismal early-season form under Erik ten Hag.

Next up is a visit to the Emirates, where Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal await. Both sides come into the game on a high, with Arsenal fresh off a 5-2 triumph over West Ham.

United currently occupy 9th place in the Premier League but are just four points behind Brighton in 4th, leaving the race for Champions League qualification wide open.

The Premier League have confirmed the match officials for the tie as Amorim gears up for the crunch clash.

Confirmed officials

Sam Barrott (pictured below) will be the referee on Wednesday evening in London. Barrott has officiated eight Premier League matches this season, and one in the Carabao Cup.

Barrott has met United once this season when he officiated the club’s 2-1 win over Brentford in October. However, this game is largely remembered for a horror decision Barrott made to wrongly send De Ligt off the field due to a head wound just as Brentford won a corner that they scored off before half time – many feel De Ligt would have stopped the effort had he been on the field.

So far this season, Barrott has issued 49 yellow cards in the Premier League and no red cards. However, he has awarded two penalties in the competition, and he handed out six in his single Carabao Cup tie.

Lee Betts and Ian Hussin will be on the sidelines as Barrott’s assistant referees during the game. Rob Jones will separate Amorim and Arteta as the fourth official on Sunday afternoon.

Jarred Gillett has been appointed as the Video Assistant Referee, as he was in the last United game against Leicester City. Adam Nunn will act as assistant VAR.
