Erik ten Hag is predicted to make three changes to the Manchester United team that lost 2-0 against West Ham as Aston Villa visit Old Trafford.

Manchester United‘s 2-0 loss against West Ham has been met with much rightful criticism as Erik ten Hag‘s men slipped to eighth in the Premier League table.

André Onana, who has the joint-most clean sheets in the league this season, is expected to start in goal as United welcome Aston Villa to Old Trafford.

Villa have scored the second most goals in the competition this season with 38 to their name, and Ten Hag is expected to make two changes to his back line in order to try and combat this.

Diogo Dalot is likely to come back into the XI over Aaron Wan-Bissaka after serving his one-match ban, while Raphaël Varane, assuming he has recovered from illness, will replace Willy Kambwala. Jonny Evans and Luke Shaw are both expected to keep their places.

In midfield, United do not have much of an option but to continue with the three players who started against West Ham.

Scott McTominay has played 90 minutes of United’s last 13 fixtures with no indication that he will be dropped on Tuesday, with Bruno Fernandes almost certainly starting as well.

There is a toss-up between who will play out of Kobbie Mainoo, Sofyan Amrabat, and Christian Eriksen, but after the former’s positive performances recently, it seems unlikely that Ten Hag would choose to drop the youngster.

In attack, there is expected to be one change. Antony will likely continue his place on the right wing due to a lack of other options, while Rasmus Højlund will probably start up front with no news on the fitness of Anthony Martial.

Alejandro Garnacho drew extensive criticism on Saturday after he squandered multiple goalscoring chances against West Ham, and with Marcus Rashford now recovered from illness, Ten Hag may opt to play last season’s top scorer at the club on the left wing from the start.

Predicted Manchester United XI:

Onana, Dalot, Evans, Varane, Shaw, McTominay, Mainoo, Fernandes, Antony, Højlund, Rashford.
