Player Ratings: Manchester United vs Manchester City (Premier League)
Manchester United lost 3-0 against Manchester City in a footballing lesson during their Premier League clash on Sunday.
United started the game well and probably should’ve taken advantage of some moments. And then City stamped their authority on the game.
Pep Guardiola’s men, however, were majorly helped when VAR decided to overturn the on-field referee’s “clear and obvious” error when Rasmus Hojlund held onto Rodri from a corner.
Of course, a penalty was given and dispatched by Erling Halaand, despite these instances happening countless times in every Premier League fixture.
Yet, in the second half, the hosts simply offered nothing. Zero. It was an embarrassing display and ruined any slightly good work in the first half. City added another two goals but they didn’t need to, as United would’ve never scored in a million years.
The player ratings can be read below.
Andre Onana – 8/10
Very good. Couldn’t do much about the penalty but saved multiple great chances to save United from further embarrassment.
Diogo Dalot – 5/10
One of the better players. Taken advantage of by City’s wide overloads.
Harry Maguire – 5/10
Slightly better than most.
Jonny Evans – 4/10
Eh. What do you expect? Why’s a 35-year-old Jonny Evans starting the Manchester derby? Not good.
Victor Lindelof – 3/10
Not a left-back, obviously.
Sofyan Amrabat – 6/10
Some good defensive moments. Subbed again at half-time…
Christian Eriksen – 3/10
Awful display.
Scott McTominay – 3/10
Started well and then faded. Second half offered nothing as the defensive midfielder.
Bruno Fernandes – 4/10
Good first half. Spent most of the second half trying to injure City players.
Rasmus Hojlund – 7.5/10
United’s best attacking player but was victim to the latest VAR error. Shock. Subbed and boos echoed around Old Trafford.
Marcus Rashford – 4/10
Poor performance. Should’ve scored in the second half after a good touch.
Subs
Mason Mount – 3/10

Sergio Reguilon – 5/10

Alejandro Garnacho – 5/10
Similar.
