Player Ratings: Manchester United 2-0 Leeds (pre-season)
Manchester United were comfortable victors in a 2-0 win against Leeds United in their first pre-season outing of 2023.
Noam Emeran and Joe Hugill grabbed the second-half goals as Erik ten Hag provided chances to many young players across the opening game.
The first-half saw a more experienced eleven, which included new signing Mason Mount, and then there were 11 changes at half-time.
Many players got important minutes under their belt and United came out winners. A perfect afternoon for Ten Hag’s men.

Tom Heaton – 7/10
Communicated well and good sweeping action. Little to do.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 7/10
Solid performance and got forward regularly.

A lot of time on the ball. Decent first game back for the Frenchman.

Great to see him back on a football pitch. Brilliant as usual.
Alvaro Fernandez – 8/10
A very impressive cameo, regularly finding nice forward passes.
Kobbie Mainoo – 9/10
Oozes class and ran the game in the midfield. A very, very talented prospect.
Mason Mount – 8/10
First minutes for the club and was on free-kick and corner duty. Impressed and almost scored an audacious lobbed effort from 35 yards out.
Hannibal Mejbri – 8/10
Returning from loan and he looked fired up. Despite somehow getting a yellow card, he was one of the best players on the pitch and almost scored.
Jadon Sancho – 6/10
Off the pace slightly. Some good interchanging pieces of play with others but a miss control ruined a good chance for a goal.
Amad Diallo – 7.5/10
Dangerous option from the right and linked up well with others. Needed a little more spark in his final actions though.
Omari Forson – 7/10
A solid showing from the young winger.
Second half XI

Composed performance from the young goalkeeper.

Another young player with a good performance.

A solid outing.

Brilliant from the young Frenchman. A goal and an assist and so dangerous on the right.

A striker’s finish that United need to get his goal. Worked hard and held up the ball on a number of occasions well.
