Peter Schmeichel has ripped into Manchester United’s players after learning about a shocking statistic following their against Bournemouth in the Premier League.

Manchester United were dealt a crushing 3-0 defeat by Bournemouth at Old Trafford, as Rúben Amorim’s side continued to struggle in the Premier League, remaining 13th in the table.

The match began with both sides eager to take control, but it was Bournemouth who struck first. Dean Huijsen punished United’s poor set-piece defending, heading in a looping effort to give the visitors an early lead.

Bruno Fernandes was United’s driving force as the first half wore on, creating opportunities and pushing for an equaliser. However, despite his efforts, the Reds went into the break trailing 1-0.

Amorim introduced changes in the second half to bolster United’s attack, but Bournemouth remained focused and clinical. Noussair Mazraoui conceded a penalty with a clumsy foul on Justin Kluivert, who stepped up and doubled Bournemouth’s lead from the spot in the 60th minute.

Just two minutes later, Antoine Semenyo delivered the killer blow, scoring the visitors’ third and silencing the Old Trafford crowd. United’s late attempts to salvage something from the match came too late, as Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth celebrated a stunning and emphatic victory.

Schmeichel stunned after learning shocking United statistic

United’s three goals conceded against Bournemouth makes it the fourth time this season they have conceded thrice in one game at Old Trafford this season.

This statistic left former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel stunned when he heard it, subsequently ripping into Amorim’s players for not playing like a team.

“Very disappointing again,” the 61-year-old began on Premier League Productions. “Too many mistakes, and it doesn’t really look like a team.

“They had the opportunities at the end of the first half, didn’t take those chances, and then eventually you know they go 2-0 down [and] 3-0 down very quickly after that, and it just looks like they’re giving up.

From that moment on, it just looked like the players individually tried to do something, I don’t know, just to show them in a good light or… Again, it’s just so disappointing. 3-0. Four times they’ve conceded three goals this season [at home].”

Schmeichel would have very rarely conceded three goals in a single game at Old Trafford, let alone four times in a single season before Christmas.
