Omar Beradda has ‘rejected’ Manchester United fan request and provided clear response
Manchester United’s chief executive Omar Berrada has ‘rejected’ a fan request and provided a clear response.
Berrada officially began his role at Old Trafford last month. As Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s first significant hire, he was appointed the club’s chief executive in January.
After being recruited from Manchester City, he spent six months on gardening leave before finally being permitted to start his duties at United.
Since beginning his role, the executive has been busy. He joined Erik ten Hag’s squad on their pre-season tour of America to build relationships with Dan Ashworth and Jason Wilcox.
Berrada wrote a column for the matchday programme, United Review, before the opening Premier League game of the season, which he described as a “particularly special occasion” for him.
MailSport has now revealed that the chief executive has rejected The Red Army’s request to have an ‘atmosphere and fan culture’ representative on the club’s Fans Forum.
The Red Army describe themselves as the club’s largest independent supporters group and had called for the position in the Fans Forum to be created after ‘growing concerns’ about the atmosphere at Old Trafford.
It was explained that the group wrote to Berrada directly but United’s new CEO turned down the proposal.
The 46-year-old responded that he ‘does not think it should fall on one person to solely advise or champion this’.
MailSport concluded with a great point. “While TRA may have been left disappointed with the refusal, they will have been encouraged by Berrada’s willingness to respond and engage given years of silence from those in power at Old Trafford.”
Berrada will continue to spearhead change at United alongside the new regime, and it is already clear that there will be communication from those in power throughout the process.
