Ole Gunnar Solskjær and Ruben Amorim agree on Amad Diallo standout quality at Man Utd
Ole Gunnar Solskjær and Ruben Amorim have agreed on one of Amad Diallo’s standout qualities at Manchester United.
Amad Diallo has been excelling at Manchester United this season under new head coach Ruben Amorim.
The Ivorian has played at both right-wingback and as one of the two no.10s in the new 3-4-3 formation. He has four assists and one goal in five starts under Amorim and 10 goal contributions in total so far this term.
The 22-year-old produced a Man of the Match display on the weekend in the 2-1 win over Manchester City after scoring the winning goal in the 90th minute. He also won the penalty for Bruno Fernandes’ equaliser.
It has taken several years for Amad to properly break into the first-team squad at Old Trafford after originally being signed by Ole Gunnar Solskjær.
He joined the club in January 2021 and has experienced loan spells at Rangers and Sunderland. Solskjær has recently spoken about the youngster and praised his development.
One area which the Norwegian made sure to highlight was that Amad has gotten faster since he worked with him, something also noticed by Amorim and others.
“Amad is a great boy, who deserves what he is experiencing now,” Solskjaer told United.no. “He always worked hard and waited for the opportunity.
“He has become stronger and faster, and the talent has always been clear.”
Amad does not seem like the quickest player around but when he’s running with the ball at his feet, there aren’t many better than him in the Premier League.
This is partly due to the player’s close control with the ball at his feet, while Amorim also cites how he is ‘explosive’, which also helps with his impressive work out-of-possession.
“He has good control and he seems faster with the ball,” explained Amorim when speaking about Amad recently.
“I’d like to take credit for [Amad’s pressing], but that’s him. He’s like that. He’s smart. He’s explosive.”
While the former Atalanta starlet has many impressive assets, both Solskjær and Amorim seem to be in agreement about his speed and how it is helping him stand out in the United team at the moment.
