Nuno Mendes price tag revealed as PSG defender ‘open to joining’ Man United
Manchester United are reportedly looking to sign Ruben Amorim’s former wingback and current Paris Saint-Germain star Nuno Mendes.
United’s performances under Ruben Amorim have been mixed, with only four wins in his first 10 matches, highlighting the challenges he faces at Old Trafford.
Although some players have adapted well to Amorim’s new 3-4-3 system, others have struggled to find their footing.
It’s clear that the 39-year-old will need reinforcements in upcoming transfer windows in order for United to reach the top of the Premier League again.
The seems far away for a side currently sitting 14th in the league standings, however, several important changes can really help to transform a team.
For the Reds, it already appears that getting players who can operate as the wingbacks in Amorim’s system is a priority.
United interested in Mendes for left wingback
The left wingback position has mostly been occupied by Diogo Dalot so far, who is more comfortable on the right side.
Tyrell Malacia has returned from injury recently but looks unlikely to break into the team, while Luke Shaw is back on the treatment table after an injury setback.
Various left-backs across Europe have been linked with a move to Old Trafford, with reports stating that INEOS will be looking in January for an option in the position.
According to RMC Sport, the Reds are interested in Paris Saint-Germain defender Nuno Mendes, who is unlikely to extend his contract at the French club.
It was explained that Mendes, who played under Amorim during his time at Sporting Lisbon, wants to leave the Ligue 1 champions and negotiations over a new deal are ‘at a standstill’.
The report concluded that United have made an offer for the 22-year-old, who is open to joining the English club.
Mendes price tag revealed
Mendes is one of the most highly-rated young left-backs in Europe. The fact that he already knows Amorim and his playstyle would also be a bonus.
According to fichajes, the French club have set a high price tag for the defender at around £58 million, which would be a major hurdle for United to overcome.

However, with Mendes clearly keen to leave PSG and unlikely to sign a new deal, those demands may be lowered in order to avoid losing him for free when his contract expires in the summer of 2026.
There are cheaper options for the United hierarchy to consider, including former Academy star Alvaro Fernandez, who would cost around £16 million due to the buyback clause inserted in his Benfica contract.
