Noussair Mazraoui has revealed his true feelings about Michael Carrick’s impact so far in charge at Manchester United.
Manchester United are back at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon to take on Crystal Palace, riding the momentum of a hard-earned 1–0 win at Everton earlier this week.
Since Michael Carrick assumed control, the Red Devils have taken 16 points from a possible 18, climbing to fourth place in the Premier League. They now sit three points ahead of Chelsea in fifth, with Liverpool another three points further back in sixth.
In contrast, Crystal Palace’s campaign has lacked consistency. After their FA Cup triumph last season, Oliver Glasner has had to navigate a rebuilding phase following the departure of several key players, leaving the Eagles in 13th position.
A last-gasp winner against Wolves secured only their second victory in 16 matches. Nevertheless, morale remains uncertain as Palace continue to juggle domestic duties with their pursuit of success in the Europa Conference League.
Mazraoui reveals true feelings about Carrick
Carrick’s impact so far at Old Trafford has been obvious and several players have come out to praise the ex-midfielder. Noussair Mazraoui is the latest to do exactly that.
Despite having a bit-part role so far under Carrick – due to Diogo Dalot finding form at right-back – Mazraoui has explained how the boss’ knowledge of the club is beneficial.
“He has a big history at the club,” Mazraoui told United Review this week when asked about Carrick. “He knows the club really, really well.
“You see and you feel that in this type of coaching and the words he’s saying to us in his meetings. You really see that he knows the club, really feels the value of the club, because he has a great history here.
“He won big prizes, so he knows how it is in the good times, in the bad times, and you just see and feel that, and I think we also show that through these last games, of course.
“That’s not by luck or anything, that’s more quality and his understanding of the club rather than anything else.”

Mazraoui vs Dalot at right-back
Mazraoui was one of United’s best performers last season after he signed from Bayern Munich but his second campaign at Old Trafford has been interrupted by injuries and AFCON.
He hasn’t quite looked as sharp as he did last term when coming onto the pitch but Mazraoui will be hoping to get opportunities if Dalot’s form tails off.
Many fans were expecting the Moroccan to come into the team when he returned from AFCON but Dalot has improved his performances since Carrick moved the system back to a four-at-the-back.
Neither player excelled in the wingback role but now they are competing for a slot at right-back, it is once again one of the stronger positions in terms of quality and depth at the club, with two solid options ready to fight it out for game-time.
