Nottingham Forest ‘enquire’ about Man Utd man, ‘agreement in principle’ reached on second exit after Marcus Rashford

Nottingham Forest have reportedly enquired about one of Rúben Amorim’s wantaway players as Manchester United look to secure their second exit.

Jadon Sancho’s spell at Manchester United has fallen well short of expectations for both player and club, making a permanent exit this summer increasingly likely.

A resolution once appeared close when Chelsea agreed to take Sancho on loan with an obligation to buy. However, the deal collapsed after the London club opted to pay a £5 million penalty to walk away from the agreement.

Juventus have emerged as the most likely suitors, with the Turin side having already submitted a £12.9 million bid for the winger, which those following the club deemed “pathetic”.

Sancho’s wages have been a major factor in potential deals with clubs not willing to front the 25-year-old’s large wages, but Sancho is expected to accept a significant pay cut, as he only has one year left on his contract, and his eager to leave United this Summer.

Nottingham Forest could pose a late threat

Juventus has already made significant progress in a deal for Sancho, with TuttoJuve reporting that the club will accelerate proceedings to finalise the deal in the coming days.

After their first rejected bid, Juventus believe that a £15 million offer will be enough to convince United to part ways with the 25-year-old.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, via JuveFC, however, Nottingham Forest could rival Juventus for Sancho, with the club having recently enquired about the winger.

Juventus and United reportedly believe they’ve found an agreement in principle for Sancho, with the last hurdle being trying to find a compromise on the severance pay.

United now prioritising departures

After bringing in both Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha for large fees, United must sell players in order to fund further key targets for Ruben Amorim.

The Portuguese coach’s two reported priorities remain signing a natural striker and a new goalkeeper. Speaking after their 0-0 draw with Leeds, Amorim also touched on the lack of pace in the midfield, so they could also target a new central midfielder.

After not selling any of their want-away players, Amorim had hoped that one player would have departed by the time their pre-season tour in America got underway. The manager will be encouraged that Marcus Rashford has gone to Barcelona, and Sancho is seemingly on his way out as well.

There are still three major players that the club are wanting to offload, with Alejandro Garnacho, Tyrell Malacia and Antony also expected to depart by the start of next season.
