“Not worried…” Inter Milan react to Rasmus Højlund transfer claim as Manchester United change transfer terms

Inter Milan have reacted to Rasmus Højlund’s latest transfer claim as Manchester United reportedly change their demands for the player this summer.

Manchester United’s season was one to forget, and few players carried the weight of it more than Rasmus Højlund. The young striker frequently looked out of his depth as the side’s main attacking outlet.

He managed just four Premier League goals, and as the season dragged on, his limitations—particularly in hold-up play and overall impact in the final third—became increasingly evident.

Amid continued speculation over his future, what Højlund needs most is a full mental and physical reset: time away from football to recharge and restore his confidence.

Yet instead of getting that break, the 22-year-old is currently on international duty with Denmark and featured in their narrow 2-1 victory over Northern Ireland on Saturday night.

Inter not worried about Højlund’s transfer claim

Last week, Højlund was asked about his future, to which he explained that he “expects to play for Manchester United” next season. “I’m looking forward to a little summer break, and then I’m fully dedicated to the project,” he continued.

Despite these words, the player has been heavily linked with a move to Inter Milan this summer, with the Serie A giants seeking a complete squad overhaul after losing the Champions League final 5-0 to Paris Saint-Germain.

According to the Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter is “not worried” about Højlund’s public comments, as the Danish striker has already expressed interest in signing for Inter this summer.

His agents met with the Nerazzurri club last week and indicated that he would be open to securing a move to the San Siro and returning to Italy, two seasons after he left Atalanta.

United adjust their Højlund demands

However, the more interesting part of Gazzetta dello Sport’s Højlund report is that they seem to suggest that United are willing to adjust their demands for the 22-year-old.

Previous reports had stated that the club were only willing to consider permanent exits this summer, but it is now claimed that United would be open to accepting a loan, with Inter agreeing on an obligation to buy the player next summer.

United want this obligation set at around £38 million, although Inter are said to be hoping that Højlund’s desire to move back to Italy could aid them in negotiations.

Højlund is said to be the club’s “number one” target for the front line, although they are keen on signing him alongside Parma’s Ange-Yoan Bonny, who scored six goals in 38 appearances last term.
