“No regrets…” – Rayan Cherki sends big hint about next steps amid Manchester United transfer interest

Lyon star Rayan Cherki has sent a big hint about his future as Manchester United are among the clubs showing interest in him.

Manchester United are aiming to improve their offensive depth in the summer transfer window after experiencing goalscoring issues this term.

Matheus Cunha and Liam Delap are two players the club are chasing and they would both bring Premier League experience with them.

However, Ruben Amorim’s side also need to make some smart signings for smaller fees and Rayan Cherki fits the bill, with the Lyon star expected to leave the French club for around £20 million this summer.

Cherki impressed against United in the Europa League despite losing in dramatic fashion. He scored twice across the two-legged tie.

Cherki sends big hint about next steps

With 12 goals and 19 assists in all competitions this season, Cherki has a host of clubs interested in signing him this summer, with United among those eyeing a move.

Speaking to the media ahead of Lyon’s final game of the season, Cherki stated that the Ligue 1 club will “forever be in my heart” in what looked to be a farewell message.

“I don’t know if it will be my last game,” the 21-year-old told reporters when asked about his future.

“I know that I have given everything for my club, that I’ve done everything possible for Lyon, because it is a club that I will never forget and that will forever be in my heart.

“I stayed when lots of players left, and I have no regrets. Whatever happens, I will give everything until the last minute at this club.”

Cherki’s agent contacts United

The latest reports involving Cherki come from Caught Offside, who claim that the player’s agents have contacted both United and Liverpool to speak about a potential move.

It was added that Manchester City, Tottenham, Newcastle, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain are among the other clubs looking to sign him.

But it was added that United are one of the clubs “most keen” to pounce on this deal, which seems to have little downside to it.

Cherki’s talent is clear and the price tag is extremely low for a player of his quality. He would be able to slot into either of the two no.10 roles in Amorim’s system.
