Nicolas Jackson agrees with Manchester United as £120m transfer swing set in motion

Nicolas Jackson has issued the latest on his future at Chelsea as Manchester United look to offload Alejandro Garnacho this summer.

Manchester United have turned their attention to signing a new centre-forward as Rúben Amorim continues to strengthen his attacking options ahead of the upcoming season.

Bruno Fernandes led the scoring last season with 19 goals, while only three other players reached double figures across all competitions.

In an effort to solve their goalscoring problems, United have spent £127.5 million on Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, who scored 15 and 20 Premier League goals respectively.

Both wingers are now part of the squad and training with their new teammates in the United States. With their arrivals secured, Amorim is now focused on bringing in a striker to spearhead the attack, with Benjamin Šeško reportedly emerging as the club’s top target.

Jackson confirms transfer stance

Amid United’s hunt for a new striker, their initial shortlist comprised RB Leipzig’s Šeško, Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins, and Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson. However, following Chelsea’s valuation of their Senegal international at £80 million, Amorim’s club stepped away from negotiations.

Speaking to reporters via the Metro, Jackson has now addressed the links to United amid intense competition for the striker spot at Stamford Bridge after the signings of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap this summer.

Jackson explained that he has no interest in leaving Chelsea this summer, agreeing with United that any move to Old Trafford is likely out of the question.

“Competition? I have no competition,” Jackson said. “We’re all here to help the club. Everyone has their role to play. I’m on a mission. It’s up to the coach to make his choices. I focus solely on my work.

“I’m a Chelsea player. The future belongs to God. If there are any changes, you’ll know. For now, I’m focused on my preparation.”

Chelsea running checks on Garnacho

With United refusing to pay the £80 million demands for Jackson, negotiations between the two clubs could take a £120 million transfer swing amid Chelsea’s interest in Alejandro Garnacho.

According to The Telegraph, the London side have carried out background checks on United’s outcast winger and have found no concerns over his character, despite a few disciplinary incidents at Old Trafford.

The report explains that Chelsea is his preferred destination this summer, with Garnacho having been a long-term target for the Blues, and they are expected to make an offer before the transfer window shuts.

TalkSPORT have reported that United are open to offers of around £40 million for the Argentina international. Still, The Telegraph further states that they may have to wait until United’s pursuit of a new striker ends before concrete negotiations can take place.

Chelsea also have to make way in the squad for Garnacho to sign, with forwards Christopher Nkunku and Armando Broja expected to depart.
