Teddy Sheringham has sent a clear warning to one Manchester United player who Ruben Amorim has big plans for this season.

Ruben Amorim officially took charge as Manchester United’s head coach last week and is now gearing up for his first match, a Premier League clash against Ipswich Town next weekend.

United face a challenging winter schedule, including tough fixtures against Manchester City and Arsenal.

Currently sitting 13th in the league, Amorim’s priority will be to improve the team’s performances and push them closer to the top four, with just four points separating them from those spots.

As crucial months loom in both the Premier League and cup competitions, Amorim is working to evaluate the squad and determine his strongest starting lineup.

Sheringham warns Rashford

Former United striker Teddy Sheringham believes that some players in the current squad at Old Trafford need to step up and one of them is Marcus Rashford.

Rashford has had a mixed season so far this term, with three goals and four assists, but Sheringham states that he must realise that players look up to him as a senior player now.

“I’m looking at these United players, and hey might not know it or think it, but they need to be led. Marcus Rashford needs to look at a manager and think, ‘I like the way he’s talking; I like his vibe, I understand exactly what he wants, and we need to go out and do it. I’m going to lead from the front.’,” began Sheringham while speaking to Best Offshore Sportsbooks.

“Younger players would then look at Rashford and think, ‘If you’re going to show me how it’s done, I’m following you as well. Come on, let’s all go together.’

“He’s got to get the top players on his side very, very quickly. Rashford is your main example because everyone looks to him. He’s the one that’s going to score your goals, going to make goals, and he’s the one that people look at and go, ‘He ain’t at it, is he?’

“So, he needs to get him on board and get him leading from the front. He’s not a young lad anymore. He’s an experienced player. It’s funny how quickly you change from a young lad to an experienced ever-present player. All of a sudden, you’re experienced, you look around the changing room and you’re expected to lead.

“He’s played for England many times and he should be leading from the front and he’s not doing that at Man United. That needs to change.”

Amorim’s big plans for Rashford

Amorim is coming into the club and reports claim that he is already considering an important change for Rashford this season.

It has been stated that the new head coach is planning to use the winger as his lone centre-forward in the 3-4-3 formation.

Rashford is the player most suited to finding spaces in behind an opposition’s defence and Amorim would be hoping that the 27-year-old can find his goalscoring touch again with this reshuffle.

However, he also has the likes of Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee in the squad, so this test would likely need to work quickly before the 39-year-old reverts to a more recognised striker.
