Royal Antwerp’s George Ilenikhena revealed that he hopes to join Manchester United as the highly-regarded youngster discussed his future.

Speaking to Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws via Sport Witness, the 17-year-old discussed his admiration for former Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.

He said: “He is the best footballer of all time. He inspires others and is also a good person off the field.

“I watch his videos all the time. So, it should come as no surprise that Manchester United are my favourite club, right?”

The Franco-Nigerian made headlines in December as he became France’s youngest-ever Champions League goalscorer, sealing Royal Antwerp’s shock 3-2 victory over Barcelona.

“I used to watch a lot of matches in the Champions League, now I was there myself. That first moment after my goal… I couldn’t believe it.”

Ilenikhena recently rejected Ligue 1’s Marseilles and Italian giants Juventus when he joined Royal Antwerp last summer.

But, the youngster opened up about what he hopes to achieve later in his career.

He said: “Where do I want to be in five years? I hope for the Premier League. That competition really appeals to me.

“You never know which team will win, almost every match is exciting.”

Ilenikhena’s contract with Royal Antwerp lasts until 2027, so he will need to continue his impressive form if he hopes to secure a Premier League move in the near future.
