Michael Carrick explains Benjamin Šeško decision vs Crystal Palace and makes Amad point

Michael Carrick has decided to start Benjamin Šeško for the first time in Manchester United’s upcoming clash with Crystal Palace.

Manchester United are ready to face Crystal Palace in the Premier League with a Sunday afternoon clash at Old Trafford.

The Reds are in strong form under Michael Carrick, with five wins and one draw in their six outings so far with the ex-midfielder in charge. Their last defeat in the Premier League was against Aston Villa in December.

After a hard-fought 1-0 win over Everton last weekend, Carrick’s side will be confident facing a Crystal Palace side who have not been at their best in recent months.

Oliver Glasner’s side have secured important wins against Wolves and Zrinjski Mostar over the last week but they had lost six of their previous 11 games.

Ahead of the game, it has been confirmed that Benjamin Šeško starts for United after his match-winner against the Toffees last weekend.

Carrick explains Šeško decision vs Crystal Palace

Šeško deserved to come into the team for this game due to his strong performances off the bench. He scored late winners against Fulham and Everton, while also grabbing a late equaliser against West Ham.

He has come into the team for Amad, who has not been in the best form recently. Bryan Mbeumo will move to his more natural right-wing position.

Carrick has explained his reasoning for starting Šeško while also adding that Amad could make a positive impact from the bench.

“I think Ben [Sesko] has been in a good spot and a good feeling for a number of weeks – it is building that belief and confidence,” Carrick told Sky Sports ahead of the game.

“Looking forward to seeing him today and Amad is a good option for us to finish the game. It is great to have those options.”

Amad can make an impact

United are probably not going to have this game won within the first 60 minutes. Substitutes are becoming so important in the Premier League and Šeško has been showing that.

With the Slovenian now in the lineup, Amad will be the player Carrick turns to if he needs to add a spark to his attack in the second half of the game.

It is an important role in the squad and the Ivorian will be eager to make an impact off the bench in this clash.

There are also some youngsters in the squad, such as Tyler Fletcher and Jack Moorhouse, and they will be hoping to get the chance to come on the Old Trafford pitch.
