Roy Keane was allegedly head-butted by a member of the public during Manchester United’s 3-1 loss against Arsenal on Sunday.

It has since been reported by The Times that the police have arrested the 42-year-old man on suspicion of assault.

Keane, the former United captain, was on punditry duty for the big-game clash at The Emirates.

The Athletic have also reported that a witness has said that Keane was startled by the incident but did not react aggressively.

A video of what appeared to be the aftermath has emerged online with the individual being held against a door by Keane’s co-pundit Micah Richards.

The former Manchester City defender has been lauded on social media for his reaction and he has since been questioned about the situation on ‘The Rest Is Football’ podcast.

Richards hosts the podcast alongside BBC presenters Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer.

However, due to there being an ongoing police investigation, the 35-year-old has stated that he is unable to comment on the situation.

“Oh my word. Gary, I’m not allowed to talk about it [because it’s under police investigation]. Exactly that,” he said.

“But when I’m allowed to talk about it, ‘The Rest Is Football’ will be the first to hear about it.”

Shearer, 53, chimed in with a joke about Richards’ reaction in the video circulation on social media. “I think the common opinion is, don’t f**k with big Meeks! Flex the guns, Micah!” he laughed.

Richards and Keane have become one of the most likable punditry duos on Sky Sports, with the former Man City man’s jokes and humour seeming to help show a different side from the former United captain.
