Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui send important message to Man United after rejected bid
Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui have sent an important message to Manchester United after their opening bid for the pair was rejected by Bayern Munich.
It was revealed by David Ornstein last week that United submitted an opening double-offer for the pair on Thursday and there was optimism at Old Trafford and among the players’ representatives that it would satisfy the Bundesliga giants.
However, the bid was rejected, and Bayern Munich informed the Reds that they would need to offer a higher fee to reach an agreement.
This led to “some bemusement” among the camps of De Ligt and Mazraoui, both of whom are represented by the same agent, Rafaela Pimenta.
Since then, Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the situation, explaining that the Reds are planning to return with another bid for the two defenders.
The journalist also detailed that the two players have now expressed their own confidence that the moves will be made.
“There has been a communication from Manchester United to the agent of Masraoui and De Ligt – They are prepared to return in talks with Bayern for Masraoui and De Ligt,” began Romano on his YouTube channel.
“I’ve been telling you about this story for days. What we can add today is that we can feel the confidence. There is confidence also on the players’ side now.
“Both of them are represented by the same agent, Rafaela Pimenta. There is confidence also on the players’ side to find a way and join Manchester United.
“We know it’s really important for [Aaron] Wan-Bissaka to leave West Ham and they are working on this deal. This is going to be a crucial part of the story for Masraoui.
“For De Ligt, the conversations continue. United always wanted to bring in one more centre-back. And so let’s see what happens.”
United’s Premier League campaign starts next Friday, and Erik ten Hag will be hoping to have both players at the club in time for that game against Fulham.
