Matthijs de Ligt: How much Man United will end up paying for Bayern Munich defender
Manchester United are moving forward with the potential signing of Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt this summer.
It has been reported that United have initiated contact with Bayern Munich regarding a potential deal for the 24-year-old player.
According to Mike Verweij, the defender has been offered a five-year contract, and an agreement is anticipated.
Additionally, it has been noted that Erik ten Hag has had several phone conversations with the player. The two previously worked together at Ajax.
With the player interested in joining the club, the main hurdle is to now agree on a fee with Bayern.
According to a report from Christopher Michel, due to his substitute role at Euro 2024, De Ligt cannot increase his value during the tournament.
Therefore, it will be difficult for the Bundesliga giants to recover the £68 million they paid for him in 2022.
It was explained that United are looking to complete a deal within a range of £25-34 million plus possible add-ons.
The final fee for the possible deal is likely to be closer to £42-50 million, with add-ons included.
