Matheus Cunha’s thoughts surrounding a summer move to Manchester United have became more know due to recent reports coming from the Brazilian’s camp.
Heading into the summer transfer window, it is no secret that Manchester United are in serious need of an attacking revamp.
The 13th-placed Premier League side have scored an extremely sub-par 37 league goals after the first 31 games. Their lowest goal tally in Premier League history is 49 in the 2015/16 season.
With these goalscoring woes being a constant issue for Ruben Amorim’s side during his tenure, it has led the club to start their summer search for reinforcement very early.
One of the names that has been rumoured with a move to the Red Devils is Wolves’ want-away star, Matheus Cunha, who has been a sole bright spark for The Wanderers this season, and is now looking for a move elsewhere.
Cunha’s £62.5m release clause attracting interest
With 13 goals and four assists in only 26 league games for Wolves this season, the Brazilian’s talents have quickly became highly sought after. The 25-year-old is also known to have a £62.5m release clause active this summer.
As well as United, interest from high-flyers Nottingham Forest, and Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal has also been reported, but United’s interest hasn’t wavered.
With a Europa League triumph being the only realistic way for Amorim’s side to gain European football for next season, their ability to lure stars would presumptuously be tarnished for this summer, although this may not be the case for Cunha.
As reported by Ben Jacobs on X, United are an appealing outfit for the Brazilian, despite the potential lack of European football.
The full post reads: “Cunha’s agent set for talks in England. #MUFC is of appeal to Cunha. Lack of #UCL football, should United not win the Europa League, won’t necessarily count against suitors.”
What could this change for Amorim?
If The Reds were able to pull off this transfer, then it could spell a lot of promise for Amorim’s side who have suffered their fair share of attacking problems since the Portuguese managers arrival in November.
Cunha would seemingly slot into one of Amorim’s ‘wide ten’ positions, which is quite similar to where he operates for Wolves.

The Brazilian, who excels in ball carrying and link-up play, has a very technically refined arsenal that would offer something very different to the skillset of Alejandro Garnacho on the left side of United’s attack.
If United were able to attain the services of Wolves’ talisman, it could be a fantastic start to what is set to be a very busy window in Amorim’s first summer at the club, as they try to work their way back to the top.
