Martin Odegaard names Man United star he would love as a teammate, there was no hesitation
Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard has chosen one of Manchester United’s most exciting players as someone he’d love to play with at the international level.
Whilst the United staff and players not involved in Euro 2024 and Copa América like Erik ten Hag, Marcus Rashford and Casemiro are on holiday, those representing their country this summer are putting their final preparations in place ahead of their respective tournaments.
This includes the Danish duo of Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Højlund, who face Norway on Saturday in their last friendly before heading to Germany.
The 21-year-old striker received high praise from Norway’s captain Martin Ødegaard who answered quick-fire questions from TVSport2 ahead of the clash between the two Scandinavian countries.
Ødegaard was asked, “If you could take one player from Denmark to play for Norway, who would you take?”
Without hesitation, Arsenal’s No. 8 said, “Højlund, then we have another one at the top there,” referring to Manchester City’s Erling Haaland; which would create a monstrous front two that would be the stuff of nightmares for any defenders.
Haaland, despite what United legend Roy Keane might say, is undoubtedly the best goalscorer in the world right now netting 27 times in the Premier League last season which could be seen as subpar for his ridiculous standards.
With a similar play style and stature to Højlund, the pair would bully and run ragged anyone in their way, and with Ødegaard behind them, goals would almost be guaranteed.
The Norwegian playmaker was second in chances created in the league with 102 only beaten by United’s Bruno Fernandes who was out on his own with a staggering 113 chances created.
Norway failed to qualify for this summer’s Euros but if Ødegaard got his wish and Højlund swapped his allegiances you would be silly not to put money on them becoming regulars on the international stage.
