Marcus Rashford’s Manchester United loan recall truth revealed following Aston Villa talks after ‘season-ending injury’

The final outcome of Manchester United’s fresh talks with Aston Villa regarding Marcus Rashford, following his potentially season-ending injury, has been revealed.

Marcus Rashford has spent the second half of the season on loan at Aston Villa, impressing as Unai Emery’s striker or on the left wing.

Since his move to Villa Park, Rashford has made nine goal contributions and earned himself a recall to the England squad during Thomas Tuchel’s first international break.

His performances in claret and blue have seen many fans wishing he were playing under Rúben Amorim at Old Trafford, but a move away in the summer is appearing more and more likely.

Several clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa, are said to be interested in Rashford, but he could favour a move away from the Premier League this summer.

However, it has been revealed that the English forward will most likely miss the rest of the season due to a hamstring injury.

Rashford won’t be recalled by United

According to The Sun, United were set to hold talks with Villa regarding whether it would be best for Rashford to return to Carrington to undergo rehabilitation. However, The Mirror have clarified that he will remain at Villa Park until the end of the season and recover from his injury at Aston Villa’s facilities.

Often, when players go out on loan and suffer an injury, their parent club will recall the player so they can recover at their facilities and oversee the process.

Manchester United are no exception to this, having recalled Dan Gore from his loan move to Rotherham United so that United’s medical team could determine the best way for him to recover in the long term.

Gore is now back at Rotherham, having trained with Amorim’s squad last week, and was involved in their 1-1 draw with Stevenage Town on Sunday.

Staying at Villa for his recovery could be the best move for Rashford, given that United’s medical department has faced significant scrutiny in recent times, particularly following the cases of Mason Mount and Luke Shaw.

Rashford should leave United

While Rashford’s form at Villa has been impressive, he has registered more goal contributions than at United in the first half of the season, which is more than he has for Aston Villa.

Despite this, the criticism and abuse he has received have been continuous, suggesting that Rashford can do no right while playing in red.

Scott McTominay and Antony received a similar type of intense and somewhat unwarranted criticism while playing for United, but since they have left Old Trafford, both have proven their qualities.

Antony was named La Liga player of the month, and McTominay is scoring for fun in Naples, becoming a key part of their title charge as they aim to win the Seire A title. Players play better without pressure, and Rashford could be the same.
