Marcus Rashford has been told not to make the “foolish” move of joining Arsenal after the Manchester United player was touted as an option.

Emmanuel Petit, speaking recently, claimed he feels that Marcus Rashford would be a fantastic option for Arsenal should the Manchester United forward leave Old Trafford this summer.

After scoring 30 goals last campaign, Rashford has failed to fire under Erik ten Hag this season, recently being outshone by Rasmus Højlund and Alejandro Garnacho in the United attack.

“Marcus Rashford could be an excellent option for Arsenal, definitely,” Petit told Betway. “My only question mark would be on his mind and where he is mentally.

“Last season, he played so well for weeks and weeks, but this season, it hasn’t been the same Marcus Rashford. I think he’s very sensitive, and he must find a balance between his professional and private life – if he finds the balance, he will be great again.”

However, United legend Dwight Yorke has suggested that Rashford moving to Arsenal would be “foolish”.

“Rashford to Arsenal? I think that’d be a foolish move,” Yorke told GamblingZone.

“Yes, people may think he wants to leave, but for what reason? He’s just signed a new contract, and he’s easily, in my opinion, one of the best players at Man United.

“Of course, because of the level he reached last season, he hasn’t been able to fulfil his potential.

“As sportsmen, you go through phases, and I think he will come out on the right side of it.”
