Marcus Rashford has reportedly turned down a £35 million contract offer as Manchester United’s latest decision forces a change in his priorities.
Marcus Rashford is one of five Manchester United players expected to leave the club this summer, after new manager Rúben Amorim deemed him surplus to requirements.
With pre-season underway and players returning at the beginning of the week—Matheus Cunha and Mason Mount among the early arrivals—most of the squad reported back later, on Thursday.
But Rashford, along with Jadon Sancho, Tyrell Malacia, Antony, and Alejandro Garnacho, has been told to stay away from first-team training while exploring exits from the club. Rashford, however, has continued to train alone at Carrington.
Although he scored Rúben Amorim’s first goal as United manager and added a brace against Everton, tensions soon developed, with the United head coach reportedly unhappy with Rashford’s application in training.
Following a productive loan spell at Aston Villa—scoring four goals and providing six assists in 17 games—Rashford is now pushing for a move to Barcelona.
Rashford turns down £35m contract offer
At 27 years old, Rashford still has plenty of football left to play, and this is reportedly something that Saudi Pro League sides highly value.
According to the Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, an unnamed Saudi side has sent the winger a contract offer worth around £35 million, although the winger has rejected said offer.
Rashford is still reportedly prioritising a move for Barcelona this summer, with Mundo Deportivo further claiming that it is a “dream” to play for the Catalan side, and that he is willing to take a wage cut to facilitate a transfer.
The England international is said to be aware that he fits the profile that Barcelona are looking for well, with their move for Nico Williams off the table and the chances of signing Liverpool’s Luis Diaz slim.
Rashford has adjusted summer transfer priorities
Earlier this window, it was widely reported that the winger was willing to wait for as long as it took to sign for Barcelona this summer, although following his return to pre-season, this appears to have changed.

After it was confirmed that he would not continue at Villa beyond his six-month loan spell, Rashford expected to rejoin Amorim’s squad at Old Trafford, but has since been training on his own at Carrington to keep his fitness up.
With other sides now commencing their pre-season fixtures, Mundo Deportivo further clarify that Rashford now wants his future resolved as soon as possible.
He reportedly wants to ensure he can participate in as much of Barcelona’s pre-season training as possible, as this will give him the best possible chance of hitting the ground running under manager Hansi Flick.
