Marcus Rashford has received a huge transfer boost as Barcelona have been named as “hot favourites” to sign the forward.
Marcus Rashford has found his old self whilst out on loan at Barcelona, where the Englishman has become a star in Spain.
Rashford had a rough few months under Manchester United boss Rúben Amorim as the 28-year-old found himself out of matchday squads despite being fully fit.
This resulted in a loan move to Aston Villa, where Rashford got consistent game time, particularly impressing against Paris Saint-Germain in a tough 5-4 loss on aggregate in the Champions League.
Since that loan, Rashford returned to United in the Summer until Hansi Flick’s Barcelona came knocking. It has all been up from there for the forward.
There has been a major boost for the England international’s future as interest around Rashford grows with his current tally of six goals and seven assists in 17 games for the Catalan giants.
Barcelona opt not to renew Lewandowski contract
The Barcelona front line has seen many changes this season due to heavy injury problems and versatility within the squad’s profiles.
Rashford has played alongside an array of world-class forwards, with Raphinha, Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski all playing alongside the 28-year-old. But it is the Polish striker Lewandowski, who seems to be on his way out of Barcelona, as Football Insider has revealed.
With Lewandowski looking set to leave, Barcelona have been named “hot favourites” to secure a permanent move for Rashford, as he has clearly demonstrated what he can bring to the Spanish side, operating as both a left-winger and a striker.
This has proven to be crucial to Barcelona’s success this season as injuries to Yamal, Raphinha and Lewandowski have all called upon Rashford to cover alongside teammates, Ferran Torres, Dani Olmo and Rooney Bardghji.
French giants, PSG, have shown interest in Rashford as injury also strikes their front line, but Barcelona sit comfortably “in the driving seat” to sign Rashford permanently.
Barcelona show Rashford “willingness”
Amorim seems insistent that Rashford will be offloaded from Old Trafford permanently this summer. Rashford’s likelihood of a move was revealed on the Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast.
Transfer correspondent, Pete O’Rourke, explained, “I don’t think it [PSG] will have a massive impact.
“They [Barcelona] have got that £30m option in the initial loan deal to sign Marcus Rashford on a permanent deal, and it does seem that there is a willingness from all parties to get a deal done.”

“Marcus Rashford is happy at Barcelona […] He has found something of his best form at the Nou Camp.”
This would be the end of a 21-year-old story at United for Rashford, who grew up in a red shirt, totalling 426 professional appearances and securing 138 goals and providing 28 assists, making him the 13th highest scorer in United’s history.
