Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford has spoken about the ‘special’ nature of the FA Cup, after the forward powered his team past Premier League rivals Everton and into the fourth round of the competition.

Rashford spoke to ITV after his side’s comprehensive 3-1 win over the Merseyside team, saying, “it’s always nice to go through, the FA Cup is a special competition to play in.”

The striker had another standout game for The Reds, scoring once and setting up both of the other two goals, earning himself Man of the Match.

Rashford highlighted his current confidence in front of goal, revealing, “Goalscoring form, this is up there with the best I’ve been. If we keep creating chances, I feel that I’ll keep scoring.”

This confidence has certainly been warranted by the England forward, with tonight’s goal taking his consecutive goals run into 5 games on the bounce and 13 in total across all competitions.

Alongside Rashford’s own momentum, he was quick to emphasise the momentum of the team as a whole, highlighting, “We’re pleased that we’re going into the next round, the FA Cup is a special competition to play in.

“More importantly, we keep momentum going and keep winning games.”

United fans will be excited to hear Rashford speaking in positive terms surrounding the FA Cup, with the competition providing an extremely good chance to bring silverware back to Old Trafford after an extensive draught in recent years.

Although Friday’s victory only sends Manchester United into the fourth round, overcoming Premier League opposition this early in the tournament will give the team and wider squad as a whole a huge confidence boost moving forward.
