Marcus Rashford said that it was ‘an amazing feeling’ to have the full support of the Stretford end as Manchester United turned things around in the second half against Manchester City on Saturday afternoon.

The United forward scored the winning goal on a day that saw Ten Hag’s men move to within a point of their neighbours in the Premier League table.

However, it wasn’t long before when he looked set to come off the pitch. At half-time, fans and journalists alike were convinced the no.10 was making way for Antony after his first-half injury. That was not the case.

He fought through the rest of the game and ended it with the most important contribution, celebrating at the famous Stretford End.

Rashford believes that the support of the fans was crucial on a difficult afternoon for United.

“It is an amazing feeling,” he told MUTV. “[In the] second-half, going and playing towards that Stretford End, when you are tired and you are in pain and you are suffering, you want to be going towards that Stretford End, 100 percent.

“Because they keep you going and when you have an opportunity or get close to [City’s] goal, they are screaming and shouting and it really does give you a lift. So, we are pleased we got the win for the fans, and to do it in the Stretford End just makes it a little bit more special.”

United scored their equaliser just four minutes before Rashford slotted home Alejandro Garnacho’s cross. It was relentless from the Reds as they were being spurred on by their supporters.

“It is important to keep the pressure on,” added Rashford. “When you are going up, facing the Stretford End and they can feel that pressure, there is a presence there. And when the ball went in the back of the net it was just an amazing feeling and to do it at the Stretford End, there is nothing that really beats it.”

The winning goal made it Rashford’s 25th direct goal contribution so far this season (22 for United, three for England). He is in phenomenal form for The Reds.
