Marcus Rashford names ex-Manchester United teammate as ‘most charismatic player of all-time’

Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford was recently asked who he believed the most charismatic player of all time was, and named a fan favourite ex-Red in response.

Whilst being on loan at FC Barcelona, Manchester United academy graduate Marcus Rashford has recently been seen taking part in a short online interview for ESPN’s TikTok account, where he was asked several questions debating what players from the history of football were the greatest at different attributes.

As well as mentioning another former Red in the form of Cristiano Ronaldo, when questioned who he believed the greatest player and finisher of all time was, Rashford was also questioned who he believed the most charismatic player of all was, providing an answer that all Reds will love.

In response to the question, Rashford was very quick to answer former United and Barcelona striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The two shared a dressing room for two years at United, in a time when United were able to bring home silverware in the form of the Community Shield, Carabao Cup, and the Europa League.

Having such an experienced leader for Rashford to learn and develop his game off at such a young age will have definitely played a part in the player’s development, which is evident with how quickly Rashford was to bring up the Swedish hero’s name.

Rashford’s Resurgence

Since leaving United on loan to Barcelona in the summer transfer window, Rashford’s form has begun to pick up immensely, giving us another glimpse of the player who won United’s player of the season for the 2022/23 season.

Rashford’s Barcelona career really seemed to take off following a spectacular brace away against Newcastle United at St James’s Park, with a powering header as well as a venomous strike from outside the box reminiscent of his iconic strike against Manchester City in 2024.

Since the beginning of the season, the former United winger has registered five goals and four assists in his first 12 games, with him registering four goal involvements for four matches in a row.

Rashford seems to have found his smile again in Catalonia, following a draining final few months of his United career, with Rúben Amorim not fancying the forward, being critical of his pressing and application in training.

What is the long-term future of Rashford?

With Rashford’s move only currently being a loan move, in theory, the player is still set to report back to United at the end of the season in June

Obviously, this could change if Rashford were to continue performing to the level that all United fans know he is capable of and what he is currently displaying at Barcelona, the move will more likely than not become permanent, with there being a buy option.

However, in the event of Barcelona choosing not to activate the buy clause in his contract, Rashford and United will have to once again get together in the summer to try and figure out a solution to the player’s future, with his current United contract still on track to run until the summer of 2028.

Despite previous struggles, if there is a situation by the end of the season where Rúben Amorim is no longer head coach in the event of a possible sacking, there is still a potential, albeit slim chance, Rashford could still return to United, which for some fans could be seen as a great chance for the player to return home and write any wrongs of the past in search of the fairytale ending to his United career we all would have hoped for, or be seen as a step back, and the club once again showing stagnation whilst trying to move on from the past.
