Manchester United ‘set’ Marcus Rashford price tag as agent holds talks about his future
Manchester United have seemingly set Marcus Rashford’s price tag, with his future at Old Trafford currently looking uncertain.
Marcus Rashford is Manchester United‘s biggest success story from their academy over the last decade. After making his debut in February 2016, he has gone on to make 402 appearances at United and score 131 goals.
Rashford has always blown rather hot and cold at the club, but when he is at his best, there are fewer better in the league – and his 30-goal campaign during 2022/23 is evidence of that.
However, last season saw the winger struggle, with the player scoring just eight goals across 43 appearances, and a new report has now suggested that his agents may be paving the way for a move out of Old Trafford.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Dwayne Maynard, Rashford’s brother and representative, has held discussions with an agency about managing the 26-year-old.
Further, the article states that while the club prefers to keep Rashford, sources have refused to rule out the possibility of allowing him to leave this summer after a downturn in form and the ‘deterioration’ of his relationship with Erik ten Hag over the course of 2023/24.
It is stated that United currently rate Rashford’s market value at around £80 million, and his sale would appeal to the club from a financial perspective – Rashford would be down in the books as a pure profit sale, which gives the club significant financial freedom in the market.
Rashford is due to report to Carrington on Monday for the first day of pre-season training. With sporting director Dan Ashworth now in place at the club, he will more than likely meet with the player about his future.
Paris St. Germain have long admired the winger, and with Kylian Mbappe leaving the club, they are looking for a new talisman.
Despite the criticisms of his poor form this season, many still view Rashford as a firm fan-favourite at the club. Whatever the future holds, fans will hope that it will be sorted out sooner rather than later.
