Marcus Rashford has ‘changed his mind’ about Manchester United transfer this summer in fresh twist

According to a fresh report, Marcus Rashford has changed his mind about where he wants to play next summer after leaving Manchester United.

During the January transfer window, Marcus Rashford was loaned to Aston Villa after a reported fallout with Manchester United head coach Rúben Amorim.

Since joining the Midlands club, Rashford has looked revitalised. Thriving under Unai Emery’s setup, he registered four goals and six assists in 17 appearances, offering glimpses of his old form.

Villa’s Champions League run came to an end last month, despite a spirited second-leg performance against Paris Saint-Germain, with Rashford earning plaudits for his displays across both ties.

With just a handful of games remaining this season, Rashford’s campaign was cut short by a hamstring injury. He remains hopeful of recovering in time to feature for England in the June internationals.

What is the latest with respect to Rashford’s transfer?

It seems almost certain that Rashford will leave Old Trafford permanently this summer. The player is not on speaking terms with Amorim, and the club needs a cash injection.

It is well known that the player has a £40 million option in his Aston Villa loan contract, which allows the Birmingham club to sign him this summer, although Emery has been coy regarding whether this will be exercised.

Previous reports have stated that Villa will only look to activate this £40 million buy option if they secure Champions League football for next season. Villa are level on points with Chelsea but behind on goal difference from the 5th position, which secured European top-flight football.

However, it has been claimed that Rashford’s ideal destination this summer is Barcelona, with the winger wanting to experience league football on the continent.

According to Express Sport, Rashford is now leaning toward staying at Villa this summer. The player still has a say in where he would like to play football next season.

It is claimed that the winger is changing his mind after spending time working with Emery, who is helping to harness and bring the 27-year-old’s abilities back to the forefront of football.

However, his current wages, set to be around £350,000 a week, are far too high for Villa to afford, which may also be a deterrent for Barcelona in summer negotiations, too.
