Fabrizio Romano shares “crazy” Manuel Ugarte to Manchester United update
Fabrizio Romano has explained that Manuel Ugarte is very much pushing to sign for Manchester United in the next few weeks amid Erik ten Hag’s update.
Manchester United have made a decisive start to the summer transfer window, signing Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna for £36 million and acquiring 18-year-old centre-back Leny Yoro from Lille for £52 million.
The capture of Yoro has been widely praised, with United and INEOS earning recognition for outbidding Real Madrid, signalling their ambitious plans for the future. They have since also secured Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich for a combined initial fee of just over £50 million.
The club is also intent on strengthening their midfield and has been strongly linked with 23-year-old Manuel Ugarte from Paris St. Germain. Ugarte played a vital role in Uruguay’s third-place finish at the 2024 Copa America tournament and was recently left out of PSG’s training sessions.
In a new update, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has explained that Ugarte has started “pushing like crazy” to secure the transfer and is getting tired of the stalemate between the two clubs.
PSG is reportedly adamant that it wants to recoup the money it spent on Ugarte last summer, around £51 million, while United has explained that it will not bid this high.
“We have to mention Ugarte. Man United and Paris Saint-Germain have been in touch almost the whole summer to discuss this Manuel Ugarte story,” Romano explained during a Playback live stream.
“The real change of the last two or three days is that Manuel Ugarte has started pushing like crazy to go to Manchester United. What I’m hearing is that Ugarte is really tired of the situation.”
Further on his YouTube channel, Romano explained: “Ugarte wants to go to United, Ugarte is pushing to go to United.
“Ugarte is in love with the idea of being a Manchester United player, Old Trafford, Premier League, the opportunity to work in an important club like Manchester United, but it’s important to say that Man United need two conditions, one of these two, in order to make the deal happen.
“The price has to be reduced because, at the moment, it’s too expensive for Man United, or they need to complete an outgoing.”
This comes as Ten Hag admits that his club cannot stand still in the market, hinting that they are looking to bring in another player.
Former United captain Roy Keane asked Ten Hag whether he wants any more players this summer during the club’s 1-0 win over Fulham on Friday evening.
“We cannot stand still, but also it depends on what happens in the market,” replied Ten Hag. “I’m happy with the squad, and when we have this squad, I am quite confident going into the new season.”
