Following much speculation in recent weeks, with the January transfer window fast approaching, United have been linked with multiple moves this winter, with the Reds now seemingly establishing a position on a potential new incoming.
With the winter window soon to commence on January 1st, Manchester United will have the opportunity to bolster Ruben Amorim’s squad further, following the successful reinforcements of the summer window.
There have been more concrete rumors of outgoings rather than any new signings for United this January, with Joshua Zirkzee seeming to be linked with a loan move away, with AS Roma currently showing the most interest.
The need for incomings could become more apparent throughout the winter months, depending on how United will be able to cope without the aid of Bryan Mbeumo and Amad in attack, as both are going to AFCON in December, and are both expected to go far into the tournament.
Despite the potential need for additional reinforcements up front this January, United have also been linked with several defenders ahead of the coming window, with the club’s position on one in particular being recently revealed.
Munoz linked with United move
With the wingback being linked with a move away from Crystal Palace in recent weeks, talks of a potential move to the red side of Manchester were only amplified following comments from the Columbian whilst on international duty.
When asked about his career aims for the future, he was quoted as saying: “If you ask me, it would be a dream to play for one of these clubs, whether it’s Barcelona, PSG, Real Madrid, or Manchester United.”
Although the mention of United sparked new speculation over a potential transfer, and sent fans into a frenzy online, a move for the Colombian seems unlikely at this time.
According to reports from football insider transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke, it is believed United will not make a move for Munoz this coming window, with the club’s focus being more on adding to the squad’s midfield with targets such as Adam Wharton, Elliot Anderson, and Carlos Baleba being discussed internally.
Potential January activity
As previously mentioned, the absence of Bryan Mbeumo and Amad throughout the Christmas and New Year period could lead to springing United into action this January, depending on how the team will be able to cope without them.
One of the new names that has recently found himself being linked with a move to United this January would be Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi.
With the Red’s potentially being the market for a new forward, and Joshua Zirkzee potentially on his way out on loan, Adeyemi would be a great acquisition to further strengthen Ruben Amorim’s attack, with his lightning pace and agility, really being able to make United even more of a threat on transition.
However, with Dortmund setting a reported price tag of roughly 60 million Euros to part with the German this January, this makes the deal especially hard for United to go for, with the club wanting to also invest heavily into the team’s midfield and having already brought in 3 new attackers in the summer.
