Phil Jones sings praises of Manchester United star, he’s been flying under the radar

One of Manchester United’s stars who has been flying under the radar has been given a glowing report by Phil Jones.

Manchester United are currently enjoying a blockbuster resurgence under Michael Carrick. After dominating Manchester City, the club then went on to enjoy an unlikely win against top-of-the-league Arsenal.

However, the club have often performed in the big games this season and often failed to meet expectations in the games where they are not the underdog.

The next match against Fulham at Old Trafford will be a good test to see how far this side has come, as they will be up against a high-flying team also pushing for a European spot.

The Red Devils will be without Patrick Dorgu, who, despite his sensational form in recent times, picked up a hamstring injury which could leave him out for ten weeks.

Jones raves about Lammens

After signing on deadline day in the summer, Senne Lammens has quietly gone about his business and cemented his place as a key player for Manchester United.

After initially being on the bench behind Altay Bayindir, the Belgian was given his chance against Sunderland in October, and after recording a clean sheet in a 2-0 win, the player has never looked back.

After the erratic nature of Andre Onana and at times Bayindir’s performance, Lammens ice-cool nature has been a breath of fresh air.

Former Manchester United defender has picked up on this and given a glowing report about the goalkeeper.

He said on Sport Illustrated FC: “The amount of controversy that we had over the goalkeeping situation for the last two years.

“I think the fact that nobody spoke about him, the fact that nobody’s highlighted him in any single game speaks volumes, and I think the way he’s come in and the way he’s handled himself because it’s a tough shirt to wear that number one jersey for United.

“But I think he’s done incredibly well, and yeah, pleased for him. Really pleased for him.”

Last summer was United’s best in years

It’s not often Manchester United get praised for their transfer business. From the circus that followed every move made under Ed Woodward and Richard Arnold, to the split opinion about INEOS’s business so far, last summer was a breath of fresh air.

While the much-needed midfielder signing was not provided, United knew they had to revamp the attack after a dismal season where the club only scored 44 goals in the league.

What followed was the signings of Premier League proven talents Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and young Bundesliga starlet Benjamin Sesko. Mbeumo has been an instant hit, and Cunha and Sesko are beginning to show more and more what they are about.

It’s no surprise to see that, as a result, Manchester United now have the third-best attack in the league with 41 goals, three shy of last season’s tally.

While the defence has still been leaky, Lammens has, for the most part, been a solid addition and has been out of the headlines for mistakes, which is something his predecessors consistently were in.

There is still a long way to go with this squad, and INEOS need to prove that last summer was not a fluke, but the foundations are there for the future manager.
