Ivan Toney will leave Brentford this summer and fits perfectly into INEOS’ Manchester United transfer plan for the upcoming transfer window.

Manchester United are said to be targeting players who are set to enter the final year of their contracts this summer as INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe look to deal with the club’s current financial restraints.

Erik ten Hag’s team have been struggling for goals so far this season, with Rasmus Højlund the only player who has managed to break the double-digit barrier so far.

Ivan Toney, Brentford’s current striker, has proven himself to be a fantastic Premier League forward, with 34 goals and nine assists in 71 appearances in the competition. He currently has just over one year left on his deal, making him the perfect fit for Manchester United and INEOS.

“It’s quite obvious that Ivan Toney will most likely be sold in the summer,” Brentford manager Thomas Frank told Tipsbladet.

“It can be expensive to sell your best player, but on the other hand, I also know that by summer, he’ll only have a year left on his contract with us.

“We also know what he’s worth. I don’t think there are many strikers in the world who are better than him right now.”

Speaking further, Frank also said that he would like to see Toney stay at the club because of how good he is as a striker. However, he also admits that it would be “fun” to see the player at a top club.

“He’s a really good striker who is in his prime footballing age. Personally, as a coach, I would prefer to keep Toney, but one day, it could be fun to see him in a top team.

“This winter, we actually had no bids for him, but it would surprise me if there aren’t a lot of clubs interested in him.”
