Manchester United’s instant reaction to Brentford rejecting £62.5m Bryan Mbeumo bid revealed, it speaks volumes

Manchester United’s instant reaction to Brentford rejecting their second bid of £62.5 million for Bryan Mbeumo has been revealed.

Manchester United are continuing discussions over their second signing of the summer, with a move for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo drawing closer.

After securing Matheus Cunha earlier this month, Ruben Amorim remains keen to bolster his attacking options. However, talks with Brentford over Mbeumo have progressed slowly.

United’s initial £55 million offer for the 25-year-old was rejected in early June, and the Reds finally sent an improved bid of £55 million plus £7.5 million in add-ons earlier this week.

Despite it being regularly reported that United were confident of the second bid being accepted, it has since been revealed that Brentford have rejected the offer.

It is no secret that United want to have Mbeumo through the door for the start of pre-season, which begins on 7 July.

United remain relaxed about Mbeumo situation

United clearly want to get this deal over the line, and it is likely they will return for a third bid soon, although it feels like a setback that it is not already done.

However, it has been reported by MailSport journalist Nathan Salt that despite the second bid being rejected, United remain pretty relaxed about the situation.

That is because they know the 25-year-old is desperate to join the club, which obviously gives them an upper hand while Brentford have been trying to force a bidding war.

The aforementioned report added that talks are ongoing over what United hopes to be a third and final offer for the Cameroon international.

No cause for concern in the Mbeumo deal

There are no need for alarm bells to be ringing for United fans as the adjustments to the bid do not need to be huge.

“It’s more the actual make up of the numbers/how the extras are achieved,” Salt added when discussing the situation on X.

It was mentioned earlier in the summer that Brentford would stand firm and demand a lot of cash upfront while aiming to avoid difficult add-ons.

Whether it is adjusting the amount of add-ons or how they are achieved, there doesn’t seem to be much left for an agreement, and there is still plenty of time for United to get the deal done before pre-season.
