Manchester United ‘yet to respond’ to interesting transfer offer – there are mixed opinions
Manchester United are ‘yet to respond’ to an interesting transfer offer, with mixed opinions surrounding the potential deal.
The Reds have completed two signings this summer, Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee, but they have been busy in recent days.
Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui are both at Carrington after the club agreed a deal for the Bayern Munich pair.
They are expected to be signed in time to be available for selection against Fulham in United’s Premier League opener this Friday.
However, further movement is anticipated before the transfer deadline, as Erik ten Hag’s squad desperately needs a midfield addition.
Another move could also happen. Fabrizio Romano revealed last week that United have been considering a deal for Mario Hermoso, who is currently a free agent.
The former Atletico Madrid defender could help further strengthen the defensive depth at Old Trafford, being able to cover centre-back and left-back.
Matteo Moretto has the latest details on the situation, claiming that United are yet to respond to being offered the 29-year-old, with the club currently focusing on other priorities.
The journalist explained that the player has been offered to several other teams and that other Premier League clubs could still make a move for the Argentine.
“Former Atletico Madrid defender Mario Hermoso has known he would not continue there for some time, and he has been offered to countless teams, including Juventus, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Napoli and Bologna… that’s just in Italy,” he wrote on Fabrizio Romano’s substack.
“In recent days, he has also been offered to Manchester United to replace Leny Yoro after he was ruled out for several months with injury.
To date there is no response from Manchester United, who have other priorities at the moment.
“I would not rule out that another Premier League team could come in for him in the coming days.
“Real Madrid obviously have their own injury issues in central defence too, but there has been no suggestion that Hermoso could cross the divide.”
Yet, it seems that United are still an option for the player. His age and potential wage demands are something that has put some fans off a potential move.
Meanwhile, others were wary that the deal would be in place of De Ligt’s move to Old Trafford, but with it being an additional defender instead, are more receptive to the possibility of the signing.
