Manchester United Women make winning statement with West Ham thrashing
Manchester United Women beat West Ham United Women 4-0 on Saturday to go top of the Women’s Super League.
Manchester United manager Marc Skinner made five changes to the team which beat Lewes 3-1 last Sunday.
Attacking duo Ella Toone and Nikita Parris were two of the changes that were made by Skinner.
Alessia Russo went close in the opening minutes of the first half from an Ona Batlle cross.

United has a second opportunity from Toone as her shot was blocked by the head of Parris in the West Ham box.
Six minutes into the second half the Red Devils were awarded a penalty for a foul from French defender Hawa Cissoko who brought down Russo’s left leg.
Captain Katie Zelem stepped up and converted the penalty into the top right corner as the home side at Old Trafford took the lead.
Substitute Lucia Garcia added a second for United when a pass from Toone was lofted over to the Spaniard who scored her fourth goal of the season.
Hayley Ladd scored with six minutes to go on her weaker left foot to virtually secure the win for United.

In the first minute of stoppage time, Marc Skinner’s side struck again for the fourth and final time through Lucia Garcia again.
As a Martha Thomas shot was parried away by West Ham goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold, Garcia was there to add the final blow to the Irons.
Manchester United Women next face Brighton and Hove Albion Women next Saturday at 11:30.
