Manchester United ‘want to launch’ £91m transfer plan to sign “dynamic” star alongside Benjamin Šeško

Manchester United are preparing to submit two new bids for highly rated, young European talents as Rúben Smorim intends to strengthen his side ahead of the Premier League return next month.

With Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Diego Leon through the door already this summer, Rúben Amorim wants his club to add further reinforcements in midfield and attack.

Javi Guerra and Benjamin Sesko are two players who have been discussed internally at Manchester United recently, as Amorim and the transfer team aim to add to the Reds’ squad depth.

Mbeumo, Cunha, and Leon have all flown with the club for the United States leg of their pre-season tour, and United are not stopping there. Šeško and Guerra, two impressive Europan talents with high potential, could join them this summer.

While United are actively searching for a new centre-forward, the club are also in the market for another defensive midfielder. Šeško and Guerra are two players who match the criteria.

Guerra and Sesko could be the Perfect Fit for Amorim’s Reds

Spanish sports news outlet Fichajes has reported that Spanish side Valencia is asking for just over £21 million, with RB Leipzig’s Šeško set to cost just shy of £70 million. The Reds will be hoping to offload some players to afford the £91 million double swoop, with five or more first-team players reportedly on the transfer list.

At 22, “dynamic” Guerra fits the mould of a classic ‘8’, playing in a double pivot as his first-team opportunities grow. With 82 appearances for Valencia, the Spanish midfielder is quickly increasing his reputation as one of Spain’s best young midfielders.

Valencia are failing to meet the ambitions of Guerra as they settle for mid-table mediocrity. For around €£21 million, United would be getting a bargain.

Sesko has been in a transfer saga with numerous clubs ever since his Bundesliga debut in 2023. Touted as one of Europe’s next best strikers, the 22-year-old has been firing on all cylinders for RB Leipzig as he enters a crucial stage in his career.

Similarly to Valencia, the German side has been underwhelming recently, finishing seventh in 2024/25 and failing to qualify for European football. Sesko may view this as the perfect time to explore a move away from the club.

Both players provide Amorim with significant competition

Expected departures such as Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Tyrell Malacia and others could mean Guerra and Sesko are in line for first-team football.

Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo are the reported favoured option by Amorim to be the first-choice midfield pairing for next season. The late arrival of Guerra could rival this, despite pressure from the experienced Manuel Ugarte and Casemiro.

Sesko’s situation is a more mellow one. Højlund and Zirkzee both have some reports suggesting that their time in Manchester is limited. If this is the case, Šeško would only have to fend off 17-year-old Chido Obi for a place in the starting eleven, a player expected to be eased into top-tier football.

That said, Guerra and Šeško are two valuable players with amazing potential. If the deals are sealed soon, United could have secured both central midfield and striker positions for future years.
