Manchester United urged to sign ‘special’ forward for Ruben Amorim after £20m price cut
Manchester United have been urged to sign a ‘special’ forward player for Ruben Amorim following news of a potential £20 million price cut.
Ruben Amorim will take charge of Manchester United in the coming days and will have a large task to overcome at Old Trafford.
The club have had a poor start to the Premier League season but have managed to get some positive results under interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy.
One of the biggest problems the new head coach will face is getting the team scoring goals. They have scored just nine times in 10 league fixtures.
Fans are hoping that Amorim can improve the performances of the current playing squad but there is also an expectation that he will need to go into the transfer window to succeed.
Berbatov urges Viktor Gyökeres signing
Former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov has urged to the club to sign Sporting striker Viktor Gyökeres from Amorim’s former side in the summer.
Berbatov believes that the current goalscoring records within the team is a ‘disgrace’ and that it should be a ‘resounding yes’ to whether United need to sign Gyökeres.
“There seems to be a special connection with the coach, and because of that, we might just see him donning a United shirt soon,” said Berbatov, as per footboom.
“Given his current form, I can say a resounding yes. Our attackers are simply not delivering, and to be 18th in the league for goals is an utter disgrace for a club like Manchester United. Improvements in this area are crucial.”
This follows on from recent reports which have claimed United are among the clubs interested in the 26-year-old striker who has an £83 million release clause.
However, importantly, it has also been stated that Gyökeres has a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ with his current club to allow him to leave for a smaller fee in the summer – said to be around £63 million.
Amorim clearly has a great relationship with the striker and the £20 million price cut could allow United to make a move for the goalscorer.
