Manchester United could make an adjustment to their transfer priorities, with Dan Ashworth said to be a fan of a £21 million option.

Various reports have stated that United are prepared to trigger the £34 million release clause in Joshua Zirkzee’s contract at Bologna.

However, a monumental agent fee remains to be resolved, with reports claiming that the player’s agent, Kia Joorabchian, is demanding upwards of £10 million.

This is something that has put off fellow competitors AC Milan, and it remains to be seen whether United can find an agreement whilst focused on maintaining their budget.

United are also keeping an eye on other options, and Jonathan David could be one that they move forward with if they do not end up signing Zirkzee.

The Lille striker is set to leave the Ligue 1 side this summer, and reports have claimed that he could depart for as little as £21 million.

After a successful campaign last term, where the 24-year-old forward scored 26 goals, it could be a smart move, and several other Premier League clubs are also interested.

According to iNews, the club’s new sporting director, Dan Ashworth, is said to be a fan of David and his skillset, and that he’s on the list at Old Trafford.

United confirmed the addition of Ashworth on Monday afternoon after a long-winded saga with Newcastle over compensation terms.
