Manchester United must make transfer U-Turn after £8 million boost, it’s a no-brainer
Manchester United should be making a no-brainer transfer U-turn after receiving an £8 million boost.
The Reds are working on a tight budget this summer and will be hoping for a number of sales to boost their transfer kitty.
Centre-back and striker have been labelled as the priority positions to strengthen, with Matthijs de Ligt and Joshua Zirkzee likely to join in those positions.
However, the Old Trafford outfit are also looking to bolster their midfield and left-back positions. Those additions are likely to depend more on outgoings and the situation following signings at either end of the pitch.
Ideally, the club would be looking to sign two midfielders, and after the latest news, they might seriously consider bringing Sofyan Amrabat back.
Amrabat, 27, spent last season on loan at United, and while he wasn’t exceptional when he played, the defensive midfielder starred towards the end of the campaign, including in the FA Cup final against Manchester City.
It has recently been claimed that United are not going to be triggering the £21 million buy option in Amrabat’s loan contract. He officially departed the club at the beginning of the month.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Amrabat has interest from multiple clubs. However, he wishes to stay at Old Trafford. He believes he could stay since the club renewed Ten Hag’s contract.
Interestingly, it was added that the Reds could make a move for Amrabat in the coming weeks after it was claimed a fee of £13m would be enough to sign the midfielder.
Despite there being question marks surrounding the 27-year-old, he would fit better under a more structured possession-based side, and could also be used as a squad option.
With the price tag now even lower than before, it seems a no-brainer for United to sign Amrabat, considering their financial issues this summer.
