Manchester United transfer now has “good chance” of happening after asking price for “insane” star drops

According to fresh reports from Germany, the chances of one “insane” player leaving Manchester United have increased after a drop in asking price.

Manchester United are looking to focus on outgoings in the coming weeks as Rúben Amorim must raise funds to secure further transfers this summer.

The club have already announced an agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers to sign Matheus Cunha for £62.5 million. At the same time, they are also in talks to secure Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford after an initial £55 million bid for the player was rejected.

However, with these two signings set to consume nearly the entire club’s transfer budget this summer, the club needs to secure well over £100 million in sales to pursue their other desired targets.

Marcus Rashford, Antony, Tyrell Malacia, and Jadon Sancho are sure-fire exits this summer. Meanwhile, Alejandro Garnacho has been told he can find a new club, and Rasmus Højlund’s future is uncertain.

Antony to Bayer Leverkusen deal could be on

With Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen announcing that former United boss Erik ten Hag was to take over from the recently departed Xabi Alonso as the club’s new head coach, they have understandably been linked to some of his former players at Old Trafford.

German outlet BILD have now broken down the fact from the fiction regarding the recent set of rumours, some of which involve United.

According to the report, the noise surrounding a potential move for Brazilian winger Antony this summer has some credibility.

According to BILD, although formal steps have not been taken, if Leverkusen decides to pursue Antony, there is a “good chance” the deal could go through, as United has dropped its price to around £21-25 million this summer.

This figure is lower than what has been claimed elsewhere, with other reports suggesting United want around £30-35 million for the player, who is returning from a “insane” six-month loan at Real Betis.

Garnacho to Leverkusen transfer is unlikely

However, a second rumour that BILD have debunked is that of Garnacho, who Ten Hag was very fond of at Old Trafford, playing the 20-year-old winger 98 times.

Although Leverkusen look set to sell their star player, Florian Wirtz, for a deal above £110 million to Liverpool this summer, they view Garnacho’s asking price as too high.

BILD claim that United are asking for at least £38 million this summer, but other reports have stated United want as much as £60 million for the Argentina international.

Garnacho is reportedly being courted by suitors from the Premier League, with Chelsea, Aston Villa, and Arsenal all said to be keeping tabs on the winger’s current situation.
