Manchester United have been told to try and sign one ‘attractive’ player from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window as they continue to fear potential relegation from the Premier League.
Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur were the two most underperforming teams in the Premier League last season, finishing 15th and 17th respectively.
The two teams faced off in the Europa League final and Spurs ended victorious after a 1-0 win over Ruben Amorim’s side.
Despite their low league positions, neither side were ever truly part of a relegation battle since the teams below them were so poor.
This season, however, it is a different story for Spurs, who currently sit 16th and just four points clear from safety. They have not won any league fixtures in 2026 and have just three victories in the competition since late October.
With there being a real possibility of the North London club being relegated, there will be several clubs monitoring the situation of some of their players.
United told to sign ‘attractive’ Spurs star amid relegation fears
United will be looking to strengthen several positions in their squad in the summer, with the midfield being the main priority.
But while uncertainties remain over Harry Maguire’s future, the Reds will also be eyeing potential central defensive reinforcements.
Former United and Spurs forward Louis Saha has claimed that the Reds should be looking to sign Mickey van de Ven in the summer.
“Overall, the defence, the way we play, the kind of stability that we have managed to get in a few games, has given me confidence,” he told Aceodds.com.
“I do think it’s a moment where you look at the squad and feel confident that the defence and midfield are okay. Definitely in the summer, you can find Van de Ven who is a very attractive target.”

United have interesting defensive situation
United’s defensive situation is an interesting one. When everyone is fully fit, they have solid quality and depth to pick from. The experience of Maguire, Lisandro Martínez and Matthijs de Ligt is met with the youth of Ayden Heaven and Leny Yoro.
But there are still question marks over the fitness of the three senior players, who have all had spells out injured this season.

Van de Ven is not much different, though, as he has had his own injury issues over the last couple of years but his quality when fit is extremely high.
There will certainly be teams looking to sign him from Spurs in the summer window but it remains to be seen whether United will be in that race.
