Manchester United to set to rival Liverpool in transfer pursuit of £95m winger duo

Manchester United are looking to compete with their bitter rivals Liverpool for the signatures of a £95million winger pairing from the Bundesliga.

Manchester United invested heavily in their attacking department during the summer, and could yet further reinforce their frontline over the next couple of transfer windows.

Ruben Amorim’s side acquired Matheus Cunha to replace the departed Alejandro Garnacho, but despite this, were still rumoured to be in the race for Antoine Semenyo.

It is now expected that the Reds have lost out in their pursuit of the AFC Bournemouth talisman to their neighbours, Manchester City, which has left them to look elsewhere in their bid to strengthen their firepower.

The sixth-placed Premier League outfit will look to battle it out with their bitter rivals Liverpool, as the pair go in pursuit of two of Europe’s most exciting attacking prospects.

United rival Slot for £95m duo

United are known to be admirers of 19-year-old Yan Diomande, who is currently on duty for the Ivory Coast, alongside Red Devil Amad Diallo.

As claimed by BILD, via SI, the Reds are also interested in Said El Mala, who is currently playing his football for Bundesliga side FC Koln.

El Mala has a far more enticing price tag of £35million, whilst Diomande would fetch a far more extortionate fee of £62million.

The Daily Mail are claiming that both of these names are also targets for Liverpool, who are seemingly keen on strengthening their blunt attack, especially following the injury to Alexander Isak.

Who would best fit United?

Although Diomande would likely be the more exciting acquisition, he would also be the more expensive of the two, and could also be on the radar of many other top sides.

Both wingers have remarkably similar records for their respective clubs, with the pair each having six goals and three assists to their name in the Bundesliga.

El Mala, however, has achieved this feat in 200 fewer minutes, despite playing for a seemingly weaker side.

It seems as if, on the face of it, El Mala would be a smarter signing for Amorim’s side, especially given the fact that he is a natural left winger, whereas Diomande could be left to compete with both Amad and Bryan Mbeumo for minutes.
